The Citadel Mall is conveniently located in West Ashley, a well-developed suburb of Charleston, just off I-526. This regional mall is owned by CBL & Associates, Inc. and covers an area of 1.1 million square feet on a single level structure. It was built in 1981 and it now harbors approximately 100 shops and services which receives approximately 7.3 millions of visitors each year.
It is anchored by Belk, Dillard's, JC Penney, Sears and Target, but there are other great shops like Cache, American Eagle, Limited, Bombay Company, Hollister Co., The Gap and Foot Locker. The food court hosts 8 order-at-the-counter eateries, but there are other 5 full-service restaurants in the mall. The mall is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturday and from noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Citadel Mall is a very popular shopping center which attracts visitors from all around the area. Prices are affordable, with some exceptions in the more upscale stores.
Parking is ample and free but there are no covered parking lots or valet parking services. Family-friendly amenities include stroller rental and restrooms. Those interested in watching a movie can do that in the 6-screen AMC Theatre, which is an out parcel of this mall. People can also visit notable sites in the area, such as Charles Towne Landing State Park and Shadow Moss Golf Course.
There was a shooting that took place at the beginning of December, 2006, but no one was seriously injured. The shooting happened after an employee theft.
